Cornerstone was built in 1902 as an Episcopal church, serving for more than 50 years as a place of worship until its deconsecration in 1956 when it passed into private hands.

By the time Kristen purchased the property in 1999 it had become severely derelict, its roof open to the elements, chimney crumbling, broken windows boarded up; squirrels nested in the beams. With assistance from three intrepid contractors, brothers Lance, Eric and Kent Gregson, Kristen initiated renovations and opened for business 14 months later.

The name, Cornerstone, was chosen for two reasons: to honor the property's history and as a reminder of the time capsule residing in the actual cornerstone itself. The deed stipulates that the time capsule may only be opened with permission of the Episcopal Diocese of Albany. It also forbids the quartering of horses on premises - and loud parties. (Darn.) We look forward to welcoming you!
